Have you bought and use any of this Interfit Stellar 150 or 300 kit? Please tell me if it's reliable, good and adequate for a small room studio to practise and learn the art of studio lighting photography, then I can move on to the big equipment later. I am still a newbie to photography and lighting in general. Thank you. Link below is for Interfit Stellar / Paterson 150 with 2 Lights & 2 Softboxes Kit for $470 and 2 Lights & 1 Softbox & 1 Umbrella Kit for $449 (all with stands) at B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=386709&is=REG&addedTroughType=search And link below is for Interfit Stellar / Paterson 300 with 2 Lights & 2 Softboxes Kit for $549 and 2 Lights & 1 Softbox & 1 Umbrella Kit for $518 (all with stands) at B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=386716&is=REG&addedTroughType=search Should I get the one with 2 softboxes or the one with 1 softbox and 1 umbrella? I have read many threads in this forum that has helped me to this standard. Thank you. Mufutau

There are several users here who use the Stellars & have convinced me that is the way to go. I plan on eventually getting the 300 umbrella/softbox kit. One of the nice things is they use the common Bowens/Calumet speedring mounts, so a ton of accessories are available.

Thank you very much. This is good to know. I think I will go for the Stellars 300 with two softboxes though, and I may just buy an extra umbrella. Thanks. I bought the 600s and am very pleased with them. I got a 2 softbox version as I already had some umbrellas. The mounts have an umbrella holder built-in. I had been triggering with a Speedlite (in manual mode on low power) bounced off the ceiling but have now picked up a cheap radio trigger from Link-Delight on ebay and it works well ($29 total, including shipping to US from HK). The 150 and 300 models use a lighter/smaller housing than the 600 and 1000 models, but they are all metal and have a rubberized skin. These are my first studio lights and I'm still learning how to use them, but I am not regretting my purchase, though I could have bought the 300s probably and been happy with those. I am stopping my 600s down a bit usually.

Thank you very much Laridj. I will surely go for the Interfit Stellar 300 kit with 2 softboxes and one extra additional umbrella. I have ruled against the 150 model. How is the light stand that came in the kit, is it strong enough? And where did you buy your from, in USA? The cheap radio trigger from Link-Delight you bought on ebay from HK for $29 total, including shipping to US from HK. Can you tell me from which dealer on ebay you purchased it? Probably a link to this dealer or the item you purchsed? I have a Canon 20D, so I am sure this will be Ok. I was thinking of using the PC sync cord but others said the radio trigger is better. Thanks. Mufutau laridj wrote: I bought the 600s and am very pleased with them. I got a 2 softbox version as I already had some umbrellas. The mounts have an umbrella holder built-in. I purchased from B&H. The light stands are sturdy and air cushioned. Here's the trigger I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/Wireless-Slave-Hot-Shoe-Flash-Flashgun-Trigger-1channel_W0QQitemZ200007980106QQihZ010QQcategoryZ30084QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem I got the version that works with hotshoe or PC cord though you will need an adapter to plug it into the Stellar. I got the hotshoe version because I wanted to be able to also use my speedlites in the mix. If you don't have a flash you want to use with it, you could purchase this: http://cgi.ebay.com/FM-Wireless-Radio-Remote-Flash-Trigger-for-Studio-light_W0QQitemZ200007462818QQihZ010QQcategoryZ30088QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

I have the 16 channel link delight and just beware this light may have syncing issues at 1/250s. I run them at 1/180s.

Thank you for the needed information. I hope the same type of light stand comes with the Stellar 300 Kit. I have saved the links to the trigger link, so when I finally buy the lights I will buy that direct. I will also buy the one that supports the speedlight flashes, so I can use it with my Sigma EF-500 Super also. Is that do-able?. Do I need one receiver each for each light? And what does it mean to have the 4 or 16 channels links?. Thank you for all the info. Mufutau laridj wrote: I purchased from B&H. The light stands are sturdy and air cushioned. Thank you for the information sir. I shall remember the 1/180 sync issue. Do I need one receiver each for each light? And what does it mean to have the 4 or 16 channels links?. Laridj, is there a web link to download the manual for the Interfit Stellar 300 or 600 that you know of? Thanks. Mufutau laridj wrote: I purchased from B&H. The light stands are sturdy and air cushioned.

Not that I have seen. It's not much of a manual. It's just an instruction sheet. If you have a specific question, I'll be glad to answer it.

Thanks. Yes, you are right, this is not called a manual but an ordinary useless phamplet. I called them so they email me a four pages scanned so-called manual. I already know more that what it is in the manual. I will just go ahead and get the kit and be done with. Mufutau laridj wrote: Not that I have seen. It's not much of a manual. I would recommend you find the softbox assembly manual on their web site. They did not include this with the kit and it was helpful it is not obvious how the thing goes together. I hope enjoy your purchase!

Thanks. They did not have the manual on the website, they faxed me a 4pages sheet for the light, not really a manual per say. I will call them again about the instruction to asemble the softbox. Thanks. Can you also answer this my message that was in my earlier message to you. see below for the question on that trigger stuff.. see our earlier thread the last pade before this I will also buy the one that supports the speedlight flashes, so I can use it with my Sigma EF-500 Super also. You will need a receiver for the Sigma since it has no optical sensor. Depending on how you use the Sigma, its flash may be picked up by the Stellars and that will trigger them. However, you might want a receiver for each light to make it more reliable in any lighting setup. The channels are different frequencies that the radio transmitter/receiver pairs can use. If you're just shooting by yourself in a studio, I'm not sure you'd ever need more than one channel. Here's a link to a Word Document on the softbox assembly: http://www.patersonphotographic.com/Downloads%20PDFs/Instructions/Pro%20Softbox%20Instructions.doc

Thank you very much sir. You have been very helpful. Now that I understood how the channel trigger works, I will probably get the 1 or 4 channels module with each receiver for the lights.. Thanks for the instruction on the softbox too. Mufutau laridj wrote: You will need a receiver for the Sigma since it has no optical sensor.
